News from the Simons

November 15, 2011

It’s fall in Tepic, this means cooler weather and smoke from the burning sugar cane but it’s my favorite time of year. We have also been enjoying a revival happening in La Fuente Ministries. People are giving their lives to Jesus every week, being baptized and returning for more. We now have fifteen La Fuente churches and we are getting ready to start some more. Azucena and I are still working in the town of Las Varas. We have seen the church change completely around in the past two years. The construction project continues to move forward we are praying that we won’t have to stop building until we are done.

The church plant in Xalisco is our fastest growing church. We started it last year with Johnny and Nency Bermudez who we have worked with for the past eight years. Since we started the church it has been under the supernatural favor of God. Land was donated for the building and a few months later we had a building up complete with a roof and a kids room and we were ready to go. The church had been meeting in a small house and they no longer fit. We moved into the building in March of this past year and we no longer fit. We are not even done building yet and we already need more space. This is amazing. Please pray that we can finish all the details on the building and build the kids classrooms how they should be. This would help us a lot with our space problem.

La Cantera and Zacualpan are two areas with our newest works being started. I know it’s hard to remember all these names but if you write them down it becomes easier. La Cantera is just outside of Tepic and Zacualpan is just outside of Las Varas. We have been sending ministry teams to each location for the past 6 months. They do a kids club every week and a woman’s bible study. Every Saturday they do a pancake breakfast for the towns where they give away a free breakfast with coffee. Please help us pray because we need a place to hold official services and not just meet in the street. We would like to purchase some property or even rent until we have enough money to buy something. Both works are in the beginning stages but we have faith that they will be great churches one day.

Family News

As a family we are doing great. Andrea’s in second grade and makes every effort to get all A’s on her report card. (Just like her father did). Vanessa is four years old and just enjoying life as a kid. Azucena continues to teach English in a kindergarten and organize our Sunday school program in Las Varas.
God Bless You,

The Simons

512 is the vision that we have for raising money for the building project in Las Varas. We are looking for people that will make a $50.00 USD a month commitment for 12 months. The people of Las Varas have started doing this. I believe they need to take on the majority of the weight of the project. If you would like to make a commitment please let me know. All check can be made out to La Fuente Ministries with a note attached that says “Las Varas”. $50.00 a month for 12 months. Please pray about this and accept the challenge.
